Faster edits and hardware inputs for connected assistants
Published on
Connected MCP assistants can now edit a single step inside a large procedure, pass purchased hardware into procedures by slug, and poll long builds without hauling mesh bytes.
If you connect Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor to Sawdust over MCP, several updates make large builds faster to edit and lighter on context.
- Edit one step inside a procedure call: your assistant can update or delete a single operation inside an expanded procedure by its recipe_id/op_id path instead of resending the entire project.
- Hardware inputs on procedures: a procedure can now take a purchased hardware item (such as a hinge, bracket, or slide) as an input parameter and resolve its 3D model by catalog slug, without embedding raw mesh bytes into the procedure.
- Named laser and jigsaw cutouts: when a laser or jigsaw cut frees an interior piece, the tool response reports which piece came free and which contour cut it loose, so the assistant can place the right cutout on the first try.
- Pollable jobs for long builds: slow edits and scene renders return a job ID the assistant can poll, and responses omit raw STL mesh payloads so your context window stays small.
- Private store-backed stock and fasteners: assistants can add lumber and fastener specs with store links to your private library and batch-read part bounds, poses, and center spacings in your project's display units.
