How to resize a build with Dusty
Published on
Ask for a specific dimension, such as 200 cm tall, or a change, such as 10 cm taller. Check Dusty's reply for the resulting measurement.
After Dusty creates a model from a plan, you can ask it to change the dimensions that plan supports. Give either the measurement you want or the amount to add or remove. These requests have different results: "200 cm tall" sets the height to 200 cm, while "10 cm taller" adds 10 cm to the current height.
1. Name the build and the dimension to change
Include the build's name if your project contains several builds, and say whether you mean its height, width, depth or length. For example, "Make the bookcase 200 cm tall" identifies both the build and the dimension.
2. Give a new measurement or an amount to change
To set a dimension, ask "Make it 36 inches wide." The width becomes 36 inches.
To change the current dimension by an amount, ask "Make it 2 inches narrower." A build that is 36 inches wide becomes 34 inches wide. You can use metric measurements in the same way: "Make it 10 cm taller." Include the unit so the amount is clear.

3. Check the result in Dusty's reply
Dusty reports the new measurement and, when available, the previous one. It uses the units in your request, so a change requested in centimetres is reported in centimetres.
Each plan has limits on its dimensions. If your request is outside that range, Dusty tells you the allowed range and leaves the build unchanged. If it asks which dimension you mean, answer with the dimension and measurement, such as "The height, 200 cm."
If the change requires a different design rather than a dimension the plan supports, a connected AI model can work on it in the same chat. See When to connect an AI model.
